Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject additive capable of improving lubricity of an engine fuel, in particular low-sulfur fuel, and reducing dosage of the additive while keeping compatibility with other additives, in particular detergents or the like by combining a specific glycerol monoester with a specific compound.
SOLUTION: This lubricating additive is used for engine fuels, in particular those containing sulfur at 500 ppm or less, contains (A) a glycerol monoester shown by formula I or II [R1 is an 8-24C saturated or unsaturated alkyl chain, straight or slightly containing branched chain(s), or an 8-60C cyclic or polycyclic group], and a compound shown by formula III [R2 is R1; and X is OR0 (R0 is a 1-8C hydrocarbon residue), a primary or secondary amine containing a 1-18C aliphatic hydrocarbon chain, or the like] each at 5 to 95 wt.%. The component A is preferably a palmitic ester or the like, derived from coconut oil or the like and rich in a 16C saturated alkyl chain. The component B is obtained by, e.g. reacting an alcohol with a carboxylic acid.
