To obtain a lubricating composition, a functional fluid and a grease improved in wear resistance/extreme-pressure characteristics and anti-oxidant characteristics.

This composition comprises (I) (a) a main amount of an oil having lubricating viscosity or (b) an oil having lubricating viscosity and at least one thickening agent, (II) at least one metal-free thiophosphorus-containing ester, at least one amine salt of the thiophosphorus-containing ester or their mixture in which the thiophosphorus-containing ester contains at least one hydrocarbyl end oxyalkylene group, at least one hydrocarbyl end polyoxyalkylene group or their mixture and (III) at least one sulfur-containing compound or at least one phosphorus-containing or boron-containing abrasion- resistant agent or extreme-pressure agent.
