Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide a compsn. which contains an org., i.e., carbon-contg., ammonium thiosulfate and has improved abrasion resistance, welding resistance, and extreme pressure properties and/or friction properties.
CONSTITUTION: This compsn. contains a major amt. of an oil of lubricating viscosity and an org. ammonium thiosulfate (A), provided it does not contain an added lead compd. The compsn. may further contain a phosphorus-contg. or boron-contg. antiwear/extreme pressure agent (b). A grease or aq. fluid contg. an org. ammonium thiosulfate is also provided.
