NEW MATERIAL: A compd. represented by formula (wherein R, R2 and R4 are each H, 1-15C alkyl or 6-15C aryl, R1 and R3 are each H, 1-15C alkyl, 6-15C aryl or 4-10C cycloalkyl, R5 is H or 1-15C alkyl, R6 is alkyl or alkenyl or R7 is H, alkyl or alkenyl).

EXAMPLE: Norbonyldibutyldithiocarbamate.

USE: A lubricant additive. An abrasion inhibitor and oxidation inhibitor effective for lubricant.

PROCESS: A compd. represented by formula II is reacted with carbon disulfide and amine represented by formula R6-NH-R7 to obtain the compd. represented by formula I. As an amine, property, there is methylamine or ethylamine. The compd. represented by formula I is added to lubricant in an amt. of 0.1-10 wt.%, pref., 0.25-5 wt.% to obtain a lubricating oil compsn. If the main amt. of the additive represented by formula I and a small amt. of lubricant are produced as thickened matters, handling and transport are simple.
