A hydraulic oil discharged from the variable valve timing mechanism 20 through drain ports 45 and 46 in the hydraulic control valve 43 is dripped from oil ports 53 and 54 to a timing chain 13. Therefore, the timing chain 13 is lubricated by the dripped hydraulic oil.
