Abstract:
PURPOSE:To simultaneously and finely regulate the luminance and contrast of LCD with a single regulator by fitting a voltage regulator capable of simultaneously regulating voltages impressed on two circuits to an LCD panel. CONSTITUTION:A stick-shaped potentiometer as a voltage regulator 3 is fitted to an LCD panel 2 and the perpendicular and horizontal directions are used to regulate luminance and contrast, respectively. Luminance is maximized by moving the stick upward and contrast is maximized by moving the stick to the right. Luminance is regulated by regulating voltage impressed on the back light of the LCD panel 2 and contrast is regulated by varying voltage impressed between LCD electrodes so that the transmissivity of LC is varied. An operator can obtain desired luminance and contrast by freely moving the stick on its ball fulcrum.
