To provide luminescent particles which are excellent in dispersibility and stability and use semiconductor nanocrystal particles comprising a metal halide, and a method for producing the same.SOLUTION: The method for producing luminescent particles provided with a surface layer containing Si on the surfaces of semiconductor nanocrystal particles comprising a metal halide includes the steps of: forming semiconductor nanocrystal particles and polysiloxane bonds from a solution containing a raw material for the semiconductor nanocrystal particles, a silane compound A having a bonding group and a hydrolyzable silyl group, and a solvent, thereby obtaining precursor particles; mixing the precursor particles, a polymer B comprising a structural unit having a basic group and a solvent-philic structural unit, and a solvent to obtain a mixture; and adding a silane compound C having a hydrolyzable silyl group to the mixture to obtain luminescent particles provided with a layer containing the polymer B and a polymer of the silane compound C on the surfaces of the precursor particles.
