Abstract:
To provide a Mach-Zehnder optical modulator, an optical transceiver, and a wavelength dispersion compensation method with which it is possible to realize long distance transmission with suitable reception sensitivity and which can be applied to an optical transceiver.SOLUTION: An input-side branch unit 20 branches inputted light into a cross port path of a branch ratio η and a bar port path of a branch ratio 1-η. Light from the cross port path of the input-side branch unit 20 propagates to an arm 31. Light from the bar port path of the input-side branch unit 20 propagates to an arm 32. An output-side branch unit 50 outputs output light that is composed of the light inputted from the arm 31 and light inputted from the arm 32 and combined at a cross port branch ratio γ and a bar port branch ratio 1-γ, respectively. Phase modulation units 41 and 42 add a phase difference between the light propagating through the arm 31 and the light propagating through the arm 32. The η and 1-η, and the γ and 1-γ are determined so that a parameter α, which is a chirp parameter, takes a negative value.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
