Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to not only detect breakage of a tool but also measure the length of the broken tool.SOLUTION: A machine tool comprises: moving means 13 that moves a tool 16 used for processing a workpiece along a moving axis orthogonal to a tool axis; a detection unit 22 that can cross a tip end portion 16a of the tool 16 moved by the moving means 13; detection means 18 that detects passing of the tip end portion 16a of the tool 16 through the detection unit 22; and arithmetic means 100 that computes a tool length of the tool 16 from a position of the tool 16 on the moving axis when the detection means 18 detects that the tip end portion 16a of the tool 16 has passed through the detection unit 22.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
