Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machining device capable of simultaneously cutting the end face of each plastic optical fiber for a suitable shape in a multiple plastic optical fiber, and also selectively machining the end face of the clad and the jacket as well as the core of the optical fiber.
SOLUTION: In this machining device, there are parallelly provided a first rotary shaft 13 rotatably connected to a member 12 to be connected that is linked to the drive shaft of a motor 10, and one or more second rotary shafts 15 rotatably connected to the motor 10 or the first rotary shaft 13 through a transmission mechanism. Each of these first and second rotary shafts 13, 15 is provided with a through hole, into which a cutting blade is freely attachably/detachably mounted. In this through hole, holders 4 are parallelly and freely attachably/detachably installed, cutting with the cutting blade the end face of the plastic optical fibers inserted into the through hole.
