Abstract:
To provide a machining method for precisely cutting and polishing a work formed of high polymer material.
In this machining method for a high polymer material, the work W formed of a high polymer material is machined with a tool T. The method is characterized by machining the work while a fluid having a temperature ranging from 10 to -40°C is applied to it. Since heat generated from the work in machining is effectively removed, the work can be prevented from being half-fused due to heat to cause cobwebbing or machining scar. Since the temperature of a fluid applied to the work is -40°C or higher, there is no risk of causing embrittlement of the high polymer material.
