Title:
MAGNESIUM ALLOY AND ITS FORGING
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3523512
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable forging formation with large flowing change in metal by applying heat treatment at a specified temp. for a specified time after giving an internal strain to an alloy composed of lithium of a specified ratio and the balance magnesium with inevitable impurities.
SOLUTION: A magnesium alloy composed of 6-10.5 wt.% lithium and the balance magnesium with the inevitable impurities, is rolled to give it internal strain. Thereafter, the heat treatment is executed at 200-300°C for 30 min-2 hr, and an α phase having low deformability is divided into fine spherical particles and dispersed to obtain the magnesium alloy having excellent forgeability. When further containing 0.5-3 wt.% zinc or aluminum, the strength can be improved while holding excellent forgeability. As a fining agent, one or more kinds among calcium, zirconium and silicon are contained at 0.5-2 wt.% and the α phase is made to fine and the forgeability is improved. A box body or the like, for electronic equipments can be forge-formed in cold state.
