Abstract:

PURPOSE: To produce a magnetic cellulose having high coercive force and magnetic flux density, with simple process, by impregnating a solution of a metal complex salt in a cellulosic material, and precipitating the metal (sulfide) having magnetism in the cellulosic material.

CONSTITUTION: A cellulosic material, preferably a material activated with e.g. corona discharge treatment, etc. is impregnated with a solution of a metal complex salt (e.g. complex salt of Co, Ni, Fe, Mn, etc.), and a magnetic metal and/ or metal sulfide (e.g. Co, Co-Cr, CoS, etc.) are precipitated in the cellulosic material e.g. by reduction, heat-treatment, sulfurization, etc. to impart the cellulosic material with ferromagnetic property.
