Title:
MAGNETIC DISC SURFACE BURNISHING DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPS63156656
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To make it possible to simultaneously burnish the surfaces of all discs and to clean a dirt head by moving all drive arms, simultaneously in the radial direction of the discs while burnishing heads are floated up by air flow produced by the disc rotated at a high speed.

CONSTITUTION: In order to burnish the surfaces of magnetic discs, a rotary bed 20 is driven by a rotary actuator 19 to allow a carriage 21 to face the magnetic discs 1, and then the carriage 21 is advanced to by an actuator 25 so as to insert burnishing heads 24 into between the discs 1. Since the discs 1 are rotated at a high speed, the heads 24 are floated up by air flow produced by the rotating discs 1, and therefore, projections and dust on the discs are blown out by the heads 24. When the heads 24 become dirts, the rotary bed 20 is rotated by the actuator 19 so as to move the heads 24 between cleaning discs 27 therealong. When the discs 27 is rotated by a motor 29 at a low speed, the heads 24 slide on the surfaces of the discs 27 without being floated up to clean off dust on the heads, thereby the heads 24 may be reused.
