Abstract:
PURPOSE:To improve the throughput of a disk access by constituting a device so that a control means transfers directly logical address information of a data block in which an error is generated, as an error reporting address to a host device. CONSTITUTION:In the case a write/read-out error is generated, an error reporting block 34 sends out the logical block address of a data block which a magnetic head reads from an index information part of a track in which an error is generated, to a logical block address transfer block 30 as an error reporting address D6 as it is. Subsequently, the logical block address transfer block 30 transfers the error reporting address D6 for showing the generation of the write/read-out error and a seek error by a magnetic head to a host computer side as logical block address information D1. In such a manner, an address conversion at the time when an error is generated becomes unnecessary, and the throughput of a disk access can be improved.
