Abstract:
PURPOSE:To prevent the occurrence of mechanical skews of a magnetic disk driver by stopping the operation of the disk driver when a position signal detects a cross of the slice levels after counting the number of moved tracks based on the track pulses and moving the tracks. CONSTITUTION:The track pulses outputted from a pulse generating part 12 are counted by a muCPU 1, and a positioning control mode is set at the track having a magnetic head number M. Then the pulses are produced every time a position signal crosses the outputs received from the comparators 20 and 21. Then the flip-flops 33 and 34 are set. A motor stop signal 36 is outputted to a control part 6 so that the drive of an access motor 8 is instantaneously stopped. Thus the motor 8 cannot position a desired track and a head positioning mechanism never collides against a mechanical limiter which limits movable range despite occurrence of the runaway. As a result, the occurrence of mechanical skews can be prevented.
