CONSTITUTION: The device is constituted of the label input means 1, the address calculating means 2, the parameter forming means 3, the file securing means 4, the data transfer means 5, and the file deleting means 6. Processing from the label input means 1 up to the file deleting means 6 is repeated until the file label of an objective volume 11 disappears. Thereby, all the files of the objective volume 11 are refiled so that an idle space is not generated between files or a file in a multiextent state is removed on a substitutive volume 15. Consequently, man-hour can be reduced.
