Abstract:
Provided are a magnetic encoder magnetizing device and a magnetizing method which make it possible to obtain a magnetic encoder that is strong and highly accurately magnetized without causing much influence on an already magnetized area. The magnetizing device is provided with a magnetizing yoke (8), an electrically conductive body (19), and a rotating means. The magnetizing yoke (8) includes a distal end surface (10) facing a magnetized surface (5) to be magnetized of a member to be magnetized (2), the distal end surface (10) having a plurality of electrically conductive body grooves (11A), (11B) formed along a boundary line of N-pole and S-pole in a magnetic track of the member to be magnetized (2). The electrically conductive body (19) has both ends connected to a magnetizing power supply, and comprises a plurality of different fitted portions (19a), (19b) respectively fitted in the electrically conductive body grooves (11A), (11B), wherein two fitted portions (19a), (19b) are wired so that electric current flows in opposite directions therethrough. The rotating means rotates the member to be magnetized (2), for example, so that the distal end surface (10) of the magnetizing yoke (8) and the magnetized surface (5) of the member to be magnetized (2) are relatively moved in the direction in which the N-pole and S-pole are arranged.
