Abstract:
To provide a magnetic functional element utilizing a transition metal oxide that has a high Curie temperature and a magnetic exchange bias that develops at a high temperature and that exhibits a large magnetic exchange bias, and a magnetic functional device that includes the magnetic functional element.SOLUTION: A magnetic functional element includes a transition metal oxide that is a solid solution of ilmenite (FeTiO3) and hematite (Fe2O3), and the interplanar spacing of at least 110 planes of the transition metal oxide is reduced, and the transition metal oxide has a Curie temperature of 900 K or higher.SELECTED DRAWING: None
