PURPOSE: To enhance the reliability of magnetic recorder and the like by manufacturing a tape guide body of a low cost high workability material, imparting high hardness, high abrasion resistance and low resistivity at least to the tape guide surface thereof, and suppressing static electricity due to sliding of magnetic tape.
CONSTITUTION: A magnetic head 10 equipped with a tape guide 5 is supported on a holder 20 placed in a vacuum container 70 for forming film, and a substance containing boron elements and a substance 30b containing titanium elements are then applied onto the tape guide 5 through vacuum deposition or sputtering. Ions 40a are then sprayed from an ion source 40 simultaneously with, alternately with, or after vacuum deposition or sputtering thus forming a film 8 containing boron nitride and titanium nitride at least on the tape guide surface 50a.
