PURPOSE: To obtain a stable contact state of a magnetic tape with the magnetic head formed with a groove part on its sliding part by preventing the concentration of the contact pressure of the magnetic tape to the edge parts of the groove part, thereby preventing the deviation of the contact pressure of the magnetic tape in the core part.
CONSTITUTION: The sliding surface Hb of the magnetic head H is provided with the groove part (b) alongside a central peak part (a) and further, a shoulder part (c) is formed on the outer side. The core part forming a magnetic gap G is exposed on the surface of the peak part (a). A flat surface (g) is formed on the shoulder part (c), by which the contact pressure F1 of the magnetic tape T is dispersed by this flat surface (g) and eventually the contact pressure F2 of the magnetic tape T is provided with good balance free from deviation in the peak part (a). The magnetic tape comes into stable contact with the core part and, therefore, the unequal wear of the core part is prevented. The deposition of the adhered matter of the magnetic powder on the surface of the core part is prevented.
