PURPOSE: To further improve an S/N ratio than the case when only a frequency distribution of noises has been considered, by making the extent of emphasis of a high band part of a video signal smaller than the extent of emphasis of an intermediate band part, as a video emphasis characteristic.
CONSTITUTION: A video emphasis circuit is constituted of an element for emphasizing an intermediate band part by utilizing resonance of C1 and L1 in C2, L1 and R1WR3, and an element for giving an equal characteristic with a conventional video emphasis characteristic constituted of C2 and R4WR6. As a result, the extent of emphasis of a high band becomes smaller than the extent of emphasis of an intermediate band. As for a transmission characteristic of a frequency modulating signal of a tape head system, its high band is emphasized, therefore, when compensating by a reproducing circuit, a noize of the high band is also reduced simultaneously.
