PURPOSE: To enable picture recording reproduction in a treble mode, in which no cross talk jamming is generated, by forming at least one of movable heads mounted oppositely to a cylinder drum into a combination head with double azimuths.

CONSTITUTION: In a helical scan type magnetic picture recording reproducer having picture recording modes of at least two kinds or more of tape travel speed and being composed so as to conduct azimuth recording, a movable head 5 is formed into a combination head consisting of the AT-L and AT-R of L and R azimuths, i.e., double azimuths. Since all special reproduction are performed by the two AT-L head at that time and reproduction in a treble mode having inferior compatibility can be carried out by the AT-L and AT-R heads in the movable head 5, the six HL and two HR heads of a fixed head and the six HR and two HL heads of a high head 3 can be selected in 58μm and 19.3μm according to specifications respectively. Accordingly, a regenerative picture, which has an excellent S/N, in which no cross talk jamming is generated and which has a high grade, can be acquired.
