Abstract:
PURPOSE: To record a video signal on any magnetic tape with a best characteristic of the magnetic tape.
CONSTITUTION: A test signal with a frequency corresponding to a luminance signal and a test signal with a frequency corresponding to a chrominance signal are frequency-multiplexed by a MIX circuit 15 and the result is recorded on a magnetic tape 17 by a magnetic head 16. The reproduction level of the test signal is detected by detection circuits 24,27, a tape simulator microcomputer 28 discriminates the electromagnetic conversion characteristic of the magnetic head 16 and the magnetic tape 17 based on the result of detection to vary the recording level of the color signal subject to frequency conversion. Thus, the level of the signal subject to frequency multiplexing is optimizingly controlled and high picture quality is obtained.
