Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve the durability and magnetic characteristics of a magnetic layer by using such magnetic powder having specified primary treated layer and secondary treated layer.

CONSTITUTION: The magnetic powder to be incorporated into the magnetic layer has the primary treated layer comprising an amion silane coupling agent and the secondary treated layer comprising acryl copolymer oligomers which contain acrylic acid or methacrylic acid of 300-10,000mol.wt. as the copolymer components, with 0.3-10pts.wt. of the oligomer to 100pts.wt. of the magnetic powder. Thereby, the magnetic powder has high dispersibility to resin, so that the obtd. medium has the magnetic layer excellent in durability and magnetic characteristics.
