PURPOSE: To provide the magnetic recording medium which has high output, high density recording and extremely high traveling durability, decreases the dropping of the magnetic layer and back layer from a nonmagnetic base and is extremely good in the characteristic to prevent an increase in drop-out and head clogging.
CONSTITUTION: The nonmagnetic base of the magnetic recording medium constituted by providing a primary coat layer on at least one surface on the nonmagnetic base and providing the magnetic layer contg. at least ferromagnetic powder and binder thereon has ≥1400Kg/mm2 total sum of the Young's modulus in the longitudinal direction and the Young's modulus in the transverse direction. In addition, the adhesive force between the nonmagnetic base and the magnetic layer is ≥90g and more preferably, the primary coat layer is polyester contg. a naphthalene ring and the nonmagnetic base is selected from polyethylene naphthalate, polyimide or polyamide; in addition, a cyclohexanone solvent is incorporated into the coating liquid of the magnetic layer at ≥10wt.% in the total solvent, by which the magnetic recording medium is obtd.
