Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve the dispersibility and the running smoothness and to suppress dropping-out of powder, by allowing a magnetic paint, where iron oxide powder containing Co is used, to contain a higher saturated fatty acid and lecithin.
CONSTITUTION: A magnetic paint where 0.1W5pts.wt. higher saturated fatty acid having carbon number 10W18 such as lauric acid and stearic acid and 0.1W 5pts.wt. lecithin are added to 100pts.wt. iron oxide magnetic powder, where γ- Fe2O3, Fe3O4, or an intermediate compound between these compounds is allowed to contain Co, is applied on a base material to obtain a magnetic recording medium.
