PURPOSE: To obtain excellent runnability and running durability by incorporating magnetic powder contg. iron carbide into a magnetic layer and incorporating a carbon black having a specified specific surface area and oil absorption into the magnetic layer at a ratio of the weight % stipulated with respect to the total weight of the magnetic powder.

CONSTITUTION: The magnetic powder contg. the iron carbide is incorporated into the magnetic layer. The carbon black having ≤50m2/g specific surface area in BET value and ≤400ml/100g oil absorption in DBP value or 50W500m2/g specific surface area in BET value and 150W400ml/100g oil absorption in DBP value is incorporated into the magnetic layer at 0.2W5.0wt% with respect to the total weight of the magnetic powder. More specifically, high reproduction output is maintained and the high electrical conductivity and light shieldability by the iron carbide are realized as the magnetic powder contg. the iron carbide is used. The drawbacks intrinsic to the iron carbide are overcome by the combination use of the specific carbon black, by which the coefft. of friction of the medium is lowered and both the runnability and running durability are improved.
