Abstract:
PURPOSE:To exactly detect an index signal by controlling a reference value compared with the number of times of detection of the index signal, in accordance with a running speed or a recording speed of a magnetic tape. CONSTITUTION:A first detecting circuit 10 detects an index signal from a reproducing signal which is outputted by tracing a magnetic tape by a rotary magnetic head, and counters 16, 17 count the number of times of detection of the index signal in accordance with an output of the first detecting circuit 10. A second detecting circuit 23 detects at least one of a running of the magnetic tape or a speed at the time of its recording, and a selecting circuit 21 selects a prescribed reference value corresponding to an output of the second detecting circuit 23. Also, comparators 18, 19 compare the count values of the counters 16, 17 with the reference value, and in accordance with its output, a pulse generating circuit 14 outputs a prescribed pulse. In such a way, the index signal can be detected exactly.
