PURPOSE: To reduce artifact in a magnetic resonance imaging device by widely dispersing over an image the components of the artifact generated by errors in dc components.
CONSTITUTION: A magnetic resonance imaging device includes magnetic field generating means each comprised of a superconducting magnet 1, an inclined magnetic field power source 2 and a high frequency transmitter 9; a signal detection means which uses a preamplifier 5 to amplify a plurality of nuclear magnetic resonance signals obtained from a subject 4 for inspection and which then uses an orthogonal detector 6 to mix the detection signals with a reference signal generated by a reference signal generator 7 to thereby obtain the low frequency components of the signals; a computer 3 for performing arithmetic of the detection signals digitized by an A/D converter 8; and an output means for the result of the arithmetic performed by the computer; the frequency of the reference signal is selectively variable as to each of the phase-modulated detection signals.
