Abstract:
PURPOSE:To enable a pitch accuracy of a magnetic grid to be enhanced by using an electroless plating film with a composition of Co, Mn, and WP whose composition range prescribed as a magnetic scale magnetic recording portion. CONSTITUTION:A Cr film 3, a Pd film 4, and an NiP plating film are laminated on a scale main body 1, thus forming an electroless plating film 2. The plating film 2 is an element of CoxMnaWbPy (x, y, a, and b indicate a ratio of each element with atom.%) and the composition range is 85 <=x<=95, 0.1<=a<=0.5, 0.1<=b<5, x+a+b+y=100. The plating film 2 is a magnetization head and forms a magnetic grid pattern where a magnetic signal is recorded with a recording wave length of lambda. This magnetic scale is read by a detection head 6 and is displayed by a digital display device through an amplifier 7. Since the electroless plating film 2 has a high magnet-retention force and a high square shape ratio, a pitch accuracy of a magnetic grid can be improved.
