Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a magnetic tape device in which error hardly occurs and any complicated assembly work may not be required.

CONSTITUTION: This device consists of a magnetic tape unit 6, a cartridge storage body 8 having a plurality of shelves and an automatic cartridge loader. The automatic cartridge loader has an accessor 12 and speed control means for the accessor 12, and the speed control means measures friction accompanying the movement of the accessor 12 and determines the movement speed of the accessor 12 according to the measured value.
