Abstract:
PURPOSE: To produce a magneto-optical recording medium capable of overwriting and excellent in overwriting characteristics and resistance to repetitive recording and reproduction.
CONSTITUTION: This magneto-optical recording medium capable of overwriting contains a memory layer, a recording layer, a middle layer, an initializing layer and a switching layer as five magnetic layers. The switching layer has a laminated structure contg. cyclically arranged rare earth metal-based regions and transition metal-based regions.
