Title:
MAGNETOSTRICTIVE TORQUE SENSOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JPH09243477
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide a magnetostrictive torque sensor which can be used in a wider temperature range by a method wherein a torque acting on a shaft can be detected with good accuracy even when a temperature change is generated in the shaft.

A torque sensor is composed of one pair of right and left magnetostrictive materials 2, 3 which are installed on the circumferential face of a shaft 1 so as to be tilted respectively upward and downward with reference to the axial line of the shaft 1 and of exciting and detecting coils 6, 7 which are installed so as to correspond to the respective magnetostrictive materials 2, 3. In this case, the magnetostrictive materials 2, 3 are installed in a state that they are divided in two or more small magnetostrictive materials 2a, 3a, and the aspect ratio of the individual divided small magnetostrictive materials 2a, 3a is set so as to be other than 1.
