To provide a magnifying glass capable of observing an observation object in accordance with its position, status or shape without being held by the hand while being put on the arm in a stable state, and observing the observation object with the light reflected from the observation object and also carrying out the transmission-observation under transmission illumination.

The magnifying glass is provided with: a band 2 to be fitted on the arm 8; a base part 6 provided on the band 2; and a lens part constituted of a magnifying lens 3 and a lens frame 4 for fixing the magnifying lens 3. The lens part is attached to one end of the base part 6 so that it can be opened/closed by a hinge 13 within a prescribed extent of an optional angle, then, the observation object can be observed in such a situation that both hands are free. Further, the backlight 5 is provided on the base part 6. By observing a bill or the like through the magnifying glass while sandwiching the bill or the like between the lens 3 and the base part 6, the magnifying glass is used for an easy appraisal at a counter etc., to judge whether or not the bill is a counterfeit money.
