A malfunction preventing control system for machine tool is provided with a personal computer for controlling machine tools, which presents a finishing process program prepared on the basis of processing information, to a numerical value control unit; a detector for detecting a blade-edge position; a monitor means for monitoring whether the blade edge position has advanced into a finished form, on the basis of the blade-edge position information obtained from the detector; a stop means for giving instructions for stopping machine tools when the blade-edge position is determined, by the monitor means, to have advanced into the finished form; and a monitoring personal computer for monitoring the finished form, which is provided with the monitoring means and the stopping means. The monitoring personal computer carries out monitoring of the finished form in an automatic operation, based on the blade- edge position information obtained from the detector, and in manual operation, based on information on machine coordinate position, taken directly from the machine tools. Further, stopping instructions based on monitoring are given in preference to numerical value control of the numerical value control unit.
