PURPOSE: To simplify a structure so as to improve installation and maintainability by forming a belt, molded into a sector with a fixed width, into an endless shape, and winding this belt between a pair of pulleys arranged along a helical locus, in a man conveyer formed into the helical locus.
CONSTITUTION: In the case that a pillar of a building, arranged with a helical man conveyer, serves as an inner side cylinder, the inside of a belt 1 is formed into a helix of radius R1 almost equal to a radius of the pillar (inner side cylinder) of the building. The outside of the belt 1 is formed into a helix along a column of radius R2 of adding a width of the belt to the radius R1. Then, the belt 1 is formed into a sector, setting a width necessary for loading a passenger to W, inner side radius to R1 and an outer side radius to R2, to connect both ends in an endless state. In a constitution, this belt 1 is wound between a pair of pulleys 2, 5 arranged on a helical locus along the pillar of the building, in a condition that tension is given to the belt 1 by energizing a shaft 3 of the one pulley 2 with elastic units 4, so as to drive the other pulley 5 by a motor 7.
