A process for the preparation of 3-(2-arylvinyl)-2,2-dimethyl- cyclopropane-1-carboxylic acid esters of the general formula (I) in which Ar, R and R<1> have the meaning indicated in the description, which is characterised in that compounds of the general formula (II) are reacted with a base, and novel intermediates for their preparation and processes for the preparation of these intermediates.
