PURPOSE: To obtain composite material having both a material characteristic of base metal and a characteristic of an amorphous alloy by performing the solid-phase diffusion joining of foil to the base metal by the hot isostatic pressing prior to the laser beam irradiation.
CONSTITUTION: Prior to the laser beam irradiation, the foil 1 is arranged on the prescribed surface of the base metal 2 and a beltlike metallic pressing plate 3 is arranged on an overall peripheral part of the foil 1. Next, in a vacuum, the welding is performed from the upper part of the pressing plate 3 and three of the pressing plate 3, the foil 1 and the base metal 2 are welded and joined together on the overall peripheral part of the foil 1. Then, a joined body of the pressing plate 3, the foil 1 and the base metal 2 is subjected to the hot isostatic pressing and the foil 1 and the base metal 2 are subjected to the solid-phase diffusion joining to each other. By this method, the foil having the amorphous alloy composition is joined directly and surely to the prescribed surface of the base metal and the composite material having both the material characteristic of the base metal and the characteristic of the amorphous alloy is obtained.
