Title:
MANUFACTURE OF CAM SHAFT AND MANDREL USED THEREFOR
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3115869
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent coupling of a hollow shaft to be coupled and assembled with a cam lobe from being loosened and slugs from being generated by providing a long inclined surface to be expanded toward a rear end at a specified angle with respect to the axis on a forward heat side of a mandrel and providing a swollen part subsequent to the long inclined surface and a short inclined surface to be contracted toward the rear end at a specified angle with respect to the axis.
SOLUTION: A long inclined surface 200, to be expanded toward a rear end 1b of a mandrel 1 at the angle of 8-30° with respect to the axis, is provided on the forward head side 1a of the mandrel 1. A swollen part 2 is arranged successively to the long inclined surface 200. A short inclined surface 201 to be contracted toward the rear end 1b of the mandrel 1 at the angle of 8-30°, with respect to the mandrel 1, is arranged successively to the swollen part 2. A steel hollow shaft is inserted in a cam lobe, the hollow tube is expanded by the mandrel 1 to couple both with each other. The primary expansion is performed by the long inclined surface 200 and the swollen part 2, and the secondary expansion is performed by the swollen part 2 and the short inclined surface 201 for preventing the primary expansion from returning.
