To provide a manufacturing method of carbonaceous powder for lithium ion secondary battery negative electrode active material by dissolving pitch as a carbon source using an organic amine solvent, and softening the organic amine solvent.
This manufacturing method comprises a dissolving step dissolving pitch in organic amine solvent, a salt forming step adding acid aqueous solution to the solution obtained in the dissolving step so as to let the organic amine solvent form a salt, a filtering step filtering carbonaceous powder deposited by the salt formation of the organic amine solvent from the acid aqueous solution, an aftertreatment step washing and drying the filtered carbonaceous powder, and a carbonizing step carbonizing or graphitizing the carbonaceous powder in an non-oxidizing atmosphere after causing the dried carbonaceous powder to be nonfusible in an oxidizing atmosphere. Thereby, the carbonaceous powder having a proper particle size and chemical characteristics for using as lithium ion secondary battery negative electrode active material can be manufactured very easily without such process as pulverization and classification.
