PURPOSE: To improve white paper luster and a surface property by rewetting a dry coated layer composed mainly of a pigment and an adhesive, pressing it against a heated specular drum and executing strong luster finishing.
CONSTITUTION: Two press-contacting rolls are provided against one specular drum 4, a mixed liquid of a mold releasing agent and water is sprayed to the surface of a coated layer before a first press-contacting roll, and thereafter, press-contacting is executed by a first press-contacting roll 1, and after it is peeled off by a take-off roll 3, specular finishing is executed by a second press- contacting roll 2. In such a way, since two press-contacting rolls are provided on a cast drum, by a first press-contacting roll, the mold releasing agent can be supplied singly and continuously to the cast drum from the surface of the coated layer, and also, the smoothing processing can be executed simultaneously.
