Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the activity of a metallic catalyst on a porous carrier by providing a step to treat the porous carrier, preferably with an aqueous catalytically active metal salt solution and an aqueous reducing agent solution and thereby, perform the electroless deposition of a catalytically active metal on the carrier, when manufacturing the catalyst to be used for manufacturing hydrogen peroxide.
SOLUTION: When manufacturing the catalyst including a porous carrier and a catalytically active metal deposited on the porous carrier, the nonelectroless deposition of a catalytically active metal on the carrier is performed by treating the porous carrier with an aqueous catalytically active metal salt solution and an aqueous reducing agent solution. The catalytically active metal to be used is, for example, nickel, palladium, platinum, rhodium, ruthenium, gold, silver or a mixture of these elements., However, palladium or a mixture containing at least, 50 wt.% of palladium is preferable. In addition, the aqueous catalytically active metal salt solution should additionally contain ammonium chloride or ammonia rubber or a mixture of these materials. The reducing agent is preferably alkali metallic hypophosphite.
