To provide a cathode-ray tube manufacturing method by which a funnel is joined to a rear plate at high precision so as to penetrate the centers of respective regions with the axis of an electron gun.

After a first positioning regulation part 24a of a positioning jig 24 is fitted in an open hole 6 formed in a rear plate 3, a funnel 4 is so arranged as to surround the open hole 6 and at the same time a second positioning regulation part 24b of the jig is fitted in the neck 5 of the funnel 4, so that the funnel 4 is positioned while the open hole of the rear plate being used as a standard. In this state, together with the positioning jig, the rear plate 3 and the funnel 4 are fired to join the funnel 4 to the rear plate 3.
