PURPOSE: To generally reduce a manufacturing cost by a method wherein in order to obtain a long life chisel of a low cost, carbon tool steel (SK steel) is used as a basic material for a chisel blade to improve workability and operating properties from pressing to grinding (edging), and besides PVD coating is applied thereto to improve performance of a product containing durability (abrasion resistance and corrosion resistance).

CONSTITUTION: Basic material for a chisel blade composed of carbon tool (SK steel) is pressed to various kinds of sectional shapes, heat treated including quenching and tempering, and ground for edging the chisel. Thereafter, PVD coating of a hard quality material is performed on the surface. Herein, the hard quality material is a titanium compound (e.g. TiN, TiC, Ti (C, N), etc.) or chromium nitride. PVD coating is carried out by sputtering.
