PURPOSE: To obtain a complex insulating rod so as to prevent the generation of a gap between a FRP rod and an insulator due to heating by enlarging the diameter of a rubber or plastic insulator heated and expanded, in a range of yielding point deformation, and by press fitting it on a fiber reinforced plastic core body, at the same time.
CONSTITUTION: An insulator 2 is heated and expanded, and the expanded insulator is press fitted on an insulating rod 1, by enlarging the diameter within yielding point deformation. On the insulating rod 1, in order to facilitate the press fitting, a smoother 3 such as silicone grease is preferred to the pasted. The insulating rod 1 is a FRP rod, and for the fiber of the FRP, glass roving is used, while a thermosetting resin such as epoxy resin and polyester resin for the plastic thereof, and it is formed into a rod body. The inner diameter of the insulator 2 is defined smaller than the outer diameter of the FRP rod. As the insulator, silicone rubber, EPDM, or the material for which a boron resin is used as a matrix is used, which has better tracking resistance, and arc resistance than the FRP.
