Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain a compressed powder molding with low ununiform density and enable the configuration after baking to be controlled accurately by changing the displacement quantity of upper and lower compression surfaces in accordance with the distance from the die wall in the manufacture of a compressed powder molding that is molded by upper and lower compression.

CONSTITUTION: By the use of a punch comprising one cylindrical punch 2a and hollow concentric cylindrical punches 2b, the configuration of the compressed surface is gradually changed in conjunction with the consolidation of powder 1. Namely, during the period of filling powder, the compression surfaces are made uneven as shown in Figure, and the moving speed of respective punches 2a, 2b is controlled to allow the compressed surface to be a plane at the end of compression. In this way, the axial displacement of powder in the vicinity of the die wall is made small so as to decrease the friction between the powder and the die. At this time, since the frictional force with the die wall becomes large as a specific surface area of the powder is larger, a displacement quantity of the compression surface is made smaller in the proximity of the die wall as a specific surface area of the power is larger.
