Abstract:
PURPOSE: To attach abrasive grains to the grinding part of a base metal with a uniform density and suppress the cost by applying a force to the base metal and/or a plating solution in the period the abrasive grains are electro-deposited onto the grinding part.
CONSTITUTION: Abrasive grains 2 are electrodeposited on the grinding part 1a of a base metal 1. That is, first the abrasive grains 2 are accommodated in a vessel 7, placed on a supporting member 6, and dipped in a plating solution 4. The shank 1b of the base metal 1 is fitted fast in a hole 8a in a jig 8, and a masking material 9 is applied to the undersurface of the jig 8 and the exposed portion of the grinding part 1a of base metal 1. When insertion of the grinding part 1a into the vessel 7 is completed, a force or pressure in accordance with the weight of the jig 8 is applied to the base metal 1 and abrasive grains 2, and thereby the contacting density of abrasive grains 2 with the grinding part 1a can be made uniform. If in this condition a current is fed with the base metal 1 as negative electrode and an anode metal 5 as positive electrode, a metal layer is formed over the surface of the grinding part 1a, and with its growing, the abrasive grains 2 are attached to the surface of the grinding part 1a.
