To obtain diphenylamines in a high yield and economically useful for intermediates of medicines, agricultural chemicals, dyes or the like by reacting anilines and phenols in the presence of a hydrogen transfer catalyst and alicyclic six membered ring compounds.
The compounds are obtained by reacting anilines and phenols in the presence of the hydrogen transfer catalyst and the alicyclic six membered ring compounds {preferably, the compounds expressed by formula I [R1-R6 are each H, an alkyl, a halogen, a (substituted) aryl; the group of the formula II is a cyclohexane ring, a cyclohexene ring or a cyclohexadiene ring], preferably, an alkylcyclohexane, especially dimethylcyclohexane, ethylcyclohexane or aryl cyclohexane, especially phenyl cyclohexane}, at 150-300°C.
