Title:
MANUFACTURE OF DISPLAY PANEL
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3219061
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To precisely form phosphor layers at a low cost by changing the initial grain size distribution of the phosphor ink coated between barrier ribs on a substrate so that the grain size at the surface layer section of a phosphor film becomes optimum according to each color.
SOLUTION: Phosphor layers are formed in the spaces between barrier ribs formed on the back glass substrate of a back panel having a discharge space between a front panel together with address electrodes by the discharge method of blue, green and red low-viscosity phosphor inks for quantity production. The settling velocities of grains differ according to grain sizes unlike the screen printing method using a high-viscosity paste. When the reflection of phosphors by ultraviolet ray excitation is utilized, small grains collected at a surface layer section dependent on strength has high luminance for blue, however the damage by an electric discharge is preferably prevented by increasing the grain size for green and red having a small effect to the degree not to impair luminance. The initial grain size distribution is shifted to a larger size by using slightly larger powder or by the classification of reference powder.
